Moses Velasco has had the privilege of leading learning in a variety of capacities. As a classroom teacher, he has worked in primary and junior classrooms and in special education programs. As board consultant, he supported the ongoing learning of teachers as they explored what it means to be an effective leader in their classrooms, schools and communities. As a Student Achievement Officer, he has supported the ongoing professional learning of classroom educators and school and board leaders.
Moses is an experienced presenter and is noted for his strong facilitation and communication skills. He has presented at a variety of conferences to share about the role teacher leaders can play in ensuring quality professional learning. He is also the co-author of the book, The Transformative Power of Collaborative Inquiry: Realizing Change in Schools and Classrooms.
In all of these capacities and opportunities, Moses has been reminded that there are many in the province who work tirelessly to improve the learning and experiences of students. He hopes his work demonstrates that same commitment.
Moses likes music. He especially likes a melody that soars, harmonies that give you chills, a bass line that causes you to involuntarily bite your lip or a beat that puts you in a groove best expressed through your neck.
